Always Current Lineox™ Enterprise Linux 2.1.x

Always Current Lineox Enterprise Linux 2.1.x is a version of Lineox Enterprise Linux 2.1 which is constantly updated and contains only current versions of program packages. This means that there is no instant need to download and update the system after installation and the system is secure right from the start. Lets guess that you save half an hour. The current version of Always Current Lineox™ Enterprise Linux is 2.1.0090 and it contains 1230 updated packages totaling 1281.21 MB.

Lineox has an automated system running on a cluster which builds new binary rpm packages as soon as new source code is available. New rpm packages are usually available in less than 12 hours after source code release. After that Lineox builds Always Current Lineox™ Enterprise Linux disks automatically, but because of the time it takes to transfer the disk images to our web server, they are available from 2 to 12 hours after we release new packages.

There were 5 big quarterly updates for the product from which sources Lineox Enterprise Linux is built. Because some commercial software is supported only on a certain update level, Lineox has reserved 5 version numbers for these. If there is enough customer demand, we may make versions that correspond to these earlier update levels.

Version 2.1.006 is the first Always Current Lineox™ Enterprise Linux Lineox made. It contains update 5 and the installation environment was rebuilt, so it has better hardware support. Also the way that Linux is booted from CD or DVD has been changed from floppy emulation and syslinux to CD boot program called isolinux. Isolinux might have problems booting if the BIOS version is very old. That is however quite rare and you can then make boot floppy and use it for booting the installation.
